Love Sum

Put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.  – Colossians 3:14

You have no doubt heard the phrase “God is Love.” Is it true? Is that affectionate feeling you get when you look into your loved one’s eyes and God the same thing? You can find answers to your questions about God in His Holy Bible. Whether deep and philosophical queries like “is God Love?” or practical questions like “Who built the temple in Jerusalem?” The Bible is where you find Truth!

In essence, yes, God is love. However, the love He embodies is much more than a sentimental cliché’. God is love – in action, “God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). The core aspect of God’s character is love and the sum of all God does is love!

When you seek to love others, you are fulfilling God’s great desire for your life, “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you” (John 15:12). As God has loved you, He also calls you to make love the sum of all you do.  At times that might require making difficult choices, such as laying aside a personal or a political opinion to keep communication open or showing kindness to those shunned by society.

Pray for God’s people in America to nurture a devoted heart of love towards those that are unacquainted with Him. Ask that many will come to know God through His Son Jesus Christ by the example of His followers.

Today’s Verse: Colossians 3:14

And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.

17 By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so also are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love. 19 We love because he first loved us. 20 If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. 21 And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.
