Bureau issues heat warnings and advisories for 100 million people.
The National Weather Service issued multiple heat advisories this week as a record-setting heat wave makes its way across the southern United States. Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and states in the Mississippi valley hit temperatures as high as 110 degrees, and the heat wave is will reach states on the east coast by the weekend.
The extreme heat has caused even more wildfires. On Wednesday, the National Weather Service issued red flag warnings for Texas, Nebraska, and Wyoming. Firefighters are now working to contain a total of 85 wildfires across the country. A drought is also affecting these areas, fueling the wildfires and restricting the ways citizens can cool the land and themselves.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For NWS and NOAA personnel as they track weather and issue warnings.
- For the president and his administration as they propose climate interventions.
- For vulnerable populations as they are exposed to the extreme heat.
- For firefighters who are working to contain wildfires in various states.
