Secretary Granholm commends progress for the European country.
This week, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine has begun exporting 100 megawatts of power to the European Union. They will slowly increase the volume of power exported as their energy sector is rebuilt, but for now, it is a significant step forward in diversifying European power and moving away from an over-reliance on Russian energy.
“I am so thrilled with Ukraine’s accomplishment, achieved while protecting their homeland, which will pave the way to what I know they can become: a clean energy powerhouse and energy exporter to the European Union,” said U.S. Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm. “The U.S. Department of Energy has been working on this goal non-stop since my trip [last August] and we proudly send a huge congratulations to Energy Minister Galushchenko and his team.”
