Respond to the Supreme Court’s ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade.
Senators Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts and Tina Smith of Minnesota published an op-ed on Saturday, encouraging colleagues and the president to take swift action in the wake of the Supreme Court’s overturn of Roe v. Wade. They cited a letter they had published earlier this month, signed by more than 20 senators, that also urged President Joe Biden to take executive action to protect abortion rights, and wrote many action items proposed for the Senate.
“We urge the president to declare a public health emergency to protect abortion access for all Americans, unlocking critical resources and authority that states and the federal government can use to meet the surge in demand for reproductive health services,” the senators wrote.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For members of the Senate as they experience the ideological division of their colleagues and constituents.
- For discernment for the president and his administration as the issue of abortion continues to foment.
- For God’s protection for pro-life and crisis pregnancy centers as demonstrators protest.
