Senate negotiations still underway.
Last week, Attorney General Merrick Garland responded positively to what he has seen of the bipartisan Senate gun-safety proposal. “We do think that at least the framework that I read about this morning with respect to the bipartisan negotiations would be meaningful progress in that direction,” the attorney general stated.
While members of the Senate continue to negotiate their gun-safety proposal, the Justice Department is taking action to enforce the gun laws the United States already has in place. At the press conference, the attorney general spoke about a recent strike his department conducted, which charged a man in Texas for illegally trafficking 92 guns, 16 of which were later used in criminal cases.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For AG Garland as he heads the Justice Department and oversees the enforcement of federal law.
- For members of the Senate as they consider legislation surrounding gun ownership and acquisition.
- For discernment for federal officials as they consider measures that restrict Second Amendment rights.
