Plans joint military training and defense exercises.
Secretary of Defense Austin wrapped up his visit to Thailand with a final meeting with Thailand’s Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Prayut Chan-o-cha in Bangkok. They discussed upcoming joint military exercises with both U.S. and Thai forces, intended to strengthen their alliance and show strength in the face of China. They also discussed the international expansion into space and cyberspace, working to craft strategies to mutually take advantage of both arenas.
“You know, Mr. Prime Minister, COVID-19 has shown us yet again how important it is for partners and allies to come together in times of crisis,” stated Secretary Austin. “And the lessons that we have learned during the pandemic can help the United States and Thailand prepare for the full range of security challenges in Southeast Asia.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the defense secretary as he maintains and strengthens alliances around the globe.
- For U.S. military leaders and commanders as they lead the troops and advise the president.
