USDA Opens Applications for Supply Chain Support

$600 million available for states, territories, and tribal nations.

The USDA released an update for the Local Food Purchase Assistance Cooperative Agreement Program (LFPA) and the Local Food for Schools Cooperative Agreement Program (LFS) fund purchasing programs. The LFPA received 86 applications from states, territories, and tribal governments for $400 million, which will be distributed to strengthen the link between local producers and local food retailers. The LFS has now opened its application for eligible organizations to distribute $200 million.

“The Local Food Purchase Assistance Cooperative Agreement Program and the Local Food for Schools Cooperative Agreement Program are important parts of USDA’s wholistic approach to invest in the future of rural communities as we transform the food system to be one that is more resilient, more equitable, and fairer for both producers and consumers,” said USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For discernment for USDA officials as they seek to shore up the food supply chain.
  • For Secretary Vilsack to be wise in the allotments of funding for food assistance programs.
  • For U.S. officials as they address both supply chain and inflation issues.
  • For America’s farmers and producers as they face rising operational costs.
