Love Everlasting

And hope does not put to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.  – Romans 5:5

There is an important relationship between mind and emotion, or head and heart. The one who makes a decision based strictly upon emotion may find their life recklessly out of control. Facts play a significant role in decision-making, and those revealed by the Spirit of God through His Word will relieve a great deal of emotional stress and provide stability in life.

The apostle Paul wanted believers to understand the true meaning of a life that has been turned over to Christ – the life that is experienced by one who realizes the joy of being “justified by faith” (Romans 5:1). It is faith that gives hope for what God has in store, His purpose in your life. Though many today might ridicule you or try to shame you into retreat from your faith, stand firm.

Be encouraged by Paul’s exhortations in Romans 5: “Rejoice in hope of the glory of God… rejoice in [your] sufferings” because you grow from them. “Suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope… God’s love has been poured into [your] heart through the Holy Spirit.” God’s love is immense, incomprehensible, unfailing, encompassing, unending, and uplifting. “The steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him” (Psalm 103:17).

Do not shrink from your trials, but pray for wisdom and strength from God to guide you through them. Pray for those in this nation whose lives are out of control because they don’t know the Giver of peace, love, and hope. Express your thankfulness to the Lord for His salvation, that He opened your blind eyes to see His love and purpose for your life. Rejoice in His love.

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, 4 and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, 5 and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

6 For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— 8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
