Secretary Haaland issues secretarial order.
Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland issued a secretarial order this week, which will phase out the sale and distribution of single-use plastics on public lands by 2032. A large part of the order directs the department to identify suitable alternatives to single-use plastics, develop them, and implement them throughout Interior-managed lands and outposts.
“The Interior Department has an obligation to play a leading role in reducing the impact of plastic waste on our ecosystems and our climate,” said Secretary Haaland. “Today’s Order will ensure that the Department’s sustainability plans include bold action on phasing out single-use plastic products as we seek to protect our natural environment and the communities around them.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For officials of the Interior Department as they steward God’s creation.
- That Secretary Haaland to seek God’s direction as she leads the Interior Department.
- For the American public utilizing public lands to be mindful of efforts to maintain and conserve national parks and other spaces.
