President Joe Biden signed a new weapons package last week, providing Ukraine with $150 million worth of additional armaments to defend themselves from Russia. This package mainly provides on-the-ground military equipment, including counter-artillery radar, jamming equipment, and 25,000 155mm artillery rounds.
“The United States is continuing our strong support for the brave people of Ukraine as they defend their country against Russia’s ongoing aggression,” President Biden stated. The $150 million for this weapons package came from the budget allocated to the Presidential Drawdown Authority, which allows the U.S. president to transfer a certain amount of excess U.S. weapons without requiring congressional approval.
