Stay in the Word
In a new survey, the American Bible Society found a sharp decrease in Bible reading and engagement. Americans, they report, are less engaged with the Bible and are less likely to say the Bible influences their lifestyle than in previous years. Scripture engagement is down 21 percent from 2021. Perhaps there is no surprise in this. 2 Timothy 4:3 states, “There is coming a time when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears, they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions.” From the times of the Old Testament through the time of Jesus and His apostles, every encouragement has been made for those who love the Lord to stay in, study, meditate on, and adhere to God’s Word. Through it, you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. Set aside time each day to spend with God in His Word. Let it be a lamp to your feet and a light to your path (Psalm 119:105).
