He Never Fails

But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?  – Matthew 6:30

“The biggest troubles you have got to face are those that never come.” This is a quote from a man, paralyzed and bedridden, whose attitude was one of joy and cheerfulness. He knew that worry is useless and conveys a distrust of God’s provision in your life. Concern for what might happen can take all the joy out of living. In fact, doctors will tell you that people do not usually die from overwork, but they can very often die from worry. It is injurious to good health.

Jesus said, “Do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble” (Matthew 6:34). This does not mean that you should not plan for the future and work to do your best. It does mean that you handle the demands of each day as you are able, and leave the rest to God. He cares for the birds of the air and clothes the flowers of the field in unrivaled beauty. You are made in His image; He loves and will care for you without fail.

Made in His image means that you are a promised heir with Christ for eternity; Jesus prepares a place for you in Heaven. Your life is a gift from God. Your responsibility is to obey, honor, praise, and glorify Him and leave the rest to His wisdom and care while you are on this earth. He is your hope and strength. Seek Him daily through Scripture. Then pray for this nation and its governing officials, that they will come to know the Lord as Savior and do their best to follow His leading.

Today’s Verse: Matthew 6:30

22 And he said to his disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body, what you will put on. 23 For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing. 24 Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds! 25 And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? 26 If then you are not able to do as small a thing as that, why are you anxious about the rest? 27 Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 28 But if God so clothes the grass, which is alive in the field today, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith! 29 And do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, nor be worried. 30 For all the nations of the world seek after these things, and your Father knows that you need them. 31 Instead, seek his kingdom, and these things will be added to you.

32 “Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
