White House says it removes barriers to safe travel.
The White House announced Thursday that American citizens who identify as transgender, nonbinary, or gender-nonconforming will be able to select “X” as their gender on their passport applications after April 11.
The Department of Homeland Security announced a series of moves to improve the travel experience for transgender people, something that has been “notoriously saddled with stress and discrimination.” The steps include updating the Transportation Security Administration’s Advanced Imaging Technology to “increase security and efficiency by reducing false alarm rates and pat-downs for the traveling public.”
The White House stated, “For far too long, transgender, nonbinary, and gender-nonconforming Americans have faced significant barriers to traveling safely and many have not had their gender identity respected as they travel within the United States and around the world.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Mayorkas to seek God’s wisdom as he heads Homeland Security.
- For Administrator Pekoske as he oversees TSA and implements new travel guidelines.
- For the president and his administration to seek the Lord’s guidance as they address discrimination.
