The two heads of state had a 55-minute phone call on Wednesday.
The U.S. will dispatch another $500 million in direct aid to Ukraine, the White House stated, after a 55-minute call that President Biden held with President Zelensky Wednesday.
The Ukrainian president said he shared his “assessment of the situation on the battlefield and the negotiating table,” and that he and President Biden “talked about specific defensive support a new package of enhanced sanctions, macro-financial and humanitarian aid.”
The White House reported the two leaders “discussed how the United States is working around the clock to fulfill the main security assistance requests b Ukraine, the critical effects those weapons have had on the conflict, and continued efforts by the United States with allies and partners to identify additional capabilities to help the Ukrainian military defend its country.”
The U.S. Congress earlier this month approved speeding up to $13.6 billion in humanitarian and military assistance for Ukraine. The administration had already dispatched $2 billion of that before the Wednesday announcement.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the president to seek God’s wisdom as he commits U.S. resources around the world.
- For the Lord’s will to be accomplished in the aid being sent to Ukraine.
- For negotiators who are discussing terms for peace in Ukraine.
