100,000 more people are now eligible.
The Department of Education announced this month that 100,000 additional people are now eligible for student loan debt cancellation. Changes made to the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program (PSLF) mean that more people can apply for debt cancellation, although only 10% of applicants have been granted debt forgiveness since the program was founded 15 years ago.
Secretary Cardona has supported widening eligibility in the past, such as when President Biden’s administration temporarily broadened the program last year. “The PSLF announcement made today means more of our dedicated teachers, nurses, first responders, service members, and many other public service workers will get meaningful relief,” he said at the time.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For discernment for Secretary Cardona as he oversees student loan forgiveness programs.
- For the president and his administration to look to the Lord for direction as they seek to provide relief to student borrowers.
