Communicate

I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting holy hands without anger or quarreling.  – 1 Timothy 2:8

As a believer in Jesus Christ who is actively following Him, you have the ability to communicate with your Heavenly Father and the assurance that He hears you! Just take a moment to reflect on Who it is that you are talking with. Recognize that He offers you connection with all that He is!

In today’s recommended reading, Paul is telling Timothy of the importance of prayer. How then do you pray: First of all, your prayer needs to glorify God for Who and What He is, offering your praise. Be grateful to Him for what He has done for you, thanking Him for material things, friends and relationships, spiritual blessings, and for sending His Son Jesus to save you. If there is wrongdoing weighing you down or standing in the way of your relationship with the Father, confess it.

Intercession is praying for others, asking for specific blessings. A petition before God is asking something for yourself. It might be for wisdom and insight into something, or for victory in establishing a new habit. Always remember His answer might affirm your desires, could be a “wait a bit longer” answer, or possibly a “no.” It is His will that must be done. Be sure to take time to pause and listen.

Pray that members of the administration have their hearts drawn to faith in Jesus Christ so that their prayers might also be answered for the blessing of America.

2 First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, 2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. 3 This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time. 7 For this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
