Resolution calls for international court to investigate Russian officials.
The U.S. Senate unanimously passed a resolution that calls for the International Criminal Court to conduct a war crime investigation into Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russian heads of state. This unanimous vote was praised by officials in both parties and is also meant to bolster the U.S. response to the Ukraine crisis.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said following the vote, “All of us in this chamber joined together, with Democrats and Republicans, to say that Vladimir Putin cannot escape accountability for the atrocities committed against the Ukrainian people.”
The resolution was headed by Senator Lindsey Graham and Senator Rand Paul and co-sponsored by dozens of other senators. Following its passage, Senator Graham said he was “very excited the U.S. Senate unanimously agreed to support the war crimes investigation being conducted against Putin and his inner circle at the Hague.” He added, “America should do all we can to aid this investigation by providing information and intelligence to the court in a timely manner.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For God to be at work through congressional leaders as they vote and respond to the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
- For wisdom for each member of the Senate and the House as they evaluate bills and resolutions related to how the U.S. should work with international partners.
