White House press secretary announces teleconference Friday as part of ongoing dialogue.
Press Secretary Jen Psaki stated on Thursday said President Biden will speak with Chinese President Xi Jinping as “part of our ongoing efforts to maintain open lines of communication between the United States and the PRC.”
Part of their conversation will deal with Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine after reports indicated that Moscow had asked China’s government for military equipment and other assistance to support the war.
Chinese officials said they were unaware of any requests from Russian officials, although U.S. national security adviser Jake Sullivan warned China’s top diplomat of “consequences” if Beijing materially supports the war.
The U.S. has also said that China has assisted Russia in spreading false claims that the U.S. is funding biological weapons labs in Ukraine.
The two heads of state “will discuss managing the competition between our two countries as well as Russia’s war against Ukraine and other issues of mutual concern,” the press secretary said.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the president to seek God’s wisdom in preparing to speak with the leader of China.
- For the Lord’s will to be accomplished through the discussion between Presidents Biden and Xi.
