Today, President Joe Biden is at Camp David, the presidential retreat in Maryland. He has no public events on his calendar at this time.
On Friday, in addition to the previous decision to ban imports of energy-related imports from Russia, the president issued an Executive Order that prohibits the importation of fish, seafood, alcohol, and diamonds from that nation. The order also bans certain items from being exported from the U.S. to Russia, particularly regarding financial actions.
The G7 nations released a statement on Friday, further expressing solidarity in isolating Russia during the invasion of Ukraine. They stated that efforts are being made to “revoke important benefits of Russia’s membership of the World Trade Organization and ensure that the products of Russian companies no longer receive Most-Favoured-Nation treatment in our economies.”
They also outlined financial restrictions and prohibitions that are collectively being placed upon Russia, saying, “Russia cannot grossly violate international law and expect to benefit from being part of the international economic order.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the president and G7 leaders to seek the Lord’s wisdom as they place prohibitions upon Russia.
- For Commerce Secretary Raimondo and Treasury Secretary Yellen as they implement and enforce the president’s import and export bans.
- For Secretary Blinken and OMB Deputy Director Young as they assess and oversee the restrictions laid out in the Executive Order.
- For the people of Russia and Ukraine to turn to the Lord as they experience the conflict and violence
