The Minnesota representative battled kidney cancer.
Sitting U.S. Representative Jim Hagedorn has passed away after battling kidney cancer. The representative for Minnesota’s First Congressional District had been diagnosed in 2019 and had a kidney removed the following year. He announced in July 2021 that the cancer had returned. He had served in Congress since 2019.
His wife, Jennifer Carnahan, confirmed that he died on Thursday, surrounded by his family. “Jim loved our country and loved representing the people of southern Minnesota,” his wife stated on Friday. “Every moment of every day he lived his dream by serving others. There was no stronger conservative in our state than my husband; and it showed in how he voted, led and fought for our country.”
