12 members were chosen who specialize in urban agriculture.
Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced s week ago that 12 members have been selected to serve on the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) first Secretary’s Advisory Committee for Urban Agriculture. He hopes that the expertise of these individuals will provide invaluable input for future policies and the development of present and future urban farming efforts.
“Urban agriculture has been growing in impact and importance, and we are taking bold actions to build a support structure,” said Secretary Vilsack. “I look forward to learning how we can better serve urban agricultural producers, which will complement our efforts focusing on equity, local food systems, access to safe and nutritional food and new ways to address climate change.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Vilsack as he oversees the development of urban agriculture.
- For wisdom for the members of the advisory committee as they provide input into the urban programs.
- For officials of the USDA as they seek to support producers across the nation.
