Gathering

A man of knowledge enhances his might. – Proverbs 24:5

Spiritual health, in 3 simple steps! Well, maybe not, but a quick internet search will give you an idea of what the world thinks will lead to spiritual well-being: practicing positivity, yoga, and international travel. Ironically, even Christian sites neglect to mention the one thing most believers say facilitates their balance and growth: gathering with other like-minded seekers of God. In other words, going to church!

In the modern language of spirituality, many view church as a mystical metaphor reminding you, “the church is not a place!” However, the church is a group of people that regularly gather… in a place. Much of the New Testament was written to specific churches in physical places. Jesus authorized a church assembled in His name with power, HIS power to bring the hope of His salvation to the world and do good works.

Gathering regularly is fundamental to spiritual growth. The physical assembly of believers is where the Biblical example of the church as a family takes its identity. Within a healthy body of believers on mission for Christ, you will discover your faith is shaped and molded into a usable form with new knowledge of God’s Word and practical ways to put it into practice. Church is the place where followers of Christ learn to live out their faith, first in relationship with each other, then in a hostile world.

Pray for members of America’s government to personally experience a place of worship and growth, a fellowship of God-seekers, enhancing their spiritual understanding and bringing health to their lives and ultimately to the nation.

Today’s Verse: Proverbs 24:5

4 For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, 5 so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. 6 Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; 7 if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; 8 the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.
