U.S. Secretary Blinken and NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg still seeking diplomatic breakthrough.
The Kremlin announced new military exercises involving thousands of troops, tanks, elite paratroopers, and short-range ballistic missiles near Ukraine. Military analysts say the exercises are intended to show strength and intimidate both NATO and Ukraine.
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg spoke separately today of the written responses that have been provided to Moscow. Russia’s desire for NATO to close all possibility of Ukraine ever being admitted to the alliance has been rejected.
Officials from President Biden’s administration have been working to get NATO allies on the same page as a Russian attack appears to be likely.
