Four individuals found to be connected with ongoing Russian intelligence.
The State and Treasury Departments announced Thursday that they plan to set sanctions against four individuals in Ukraine, two of which are current members of Ukraine’s parliament. These four individuals have been linked to Russian intelligence services, and the sanctions are being imposed separately from the economic sanctions currently being prepared against Russia by the U.S. and countries in Europe.
“The United States will continue to take steps, including through actions like this one, and in partnership with the Ukrainian government, to identify, expose, and undercut Russia’s destabilization efforts in Ukraine,” Secretary Blinken said. “The United States also will continue to expose and counter Russia’s global campaign of malign influence, in Ukraine and beyond.”
