Fields questions regarding gain-of-function.
Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Dr. Anthony Fauci, who has overseen much of the pandemic response, testified in a hearing before the Senate Health Committee on Thursday. Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky, also a doctor, suggested Dr. Fauci had the definition of gain-of-function research on his department’s website to shield himself from responsibility regarding the COVID-19 outbreak.
“The preponderance of evidence points to this coming from a lab,” Senator Paul said.
Dr. Fauci responded that misrepresentations had been made regarding the situation. “I have no responsibility for the current pandemic,” he stated.
