The hearing will investigate apps’ negative impact on children.
The Senate Commerce Consumer Protection subcommittee announced that it would be hearing testimony this week from three major internet video platforms. CEOs from TikTok, YouTube, and Snapchat will testify about their apps’ influence on childhood development, and the potential harms of the platforms.
Subcommittee Chairman Richard Blumenthal expressed the reason for the hearing saying, “Recent revelations about harm to kids online show that Big Tech is facing its Big Tobacco moment—a moment of reckoning. We need to understand the impact of popular platforms like Snapchat, TikTok, and YouTube on children and what companies can do better to keep them safe.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- That members of the subcommittee would seek God’s wisdom as they question the tech executives.
- For members of the Senate as they seek to protect children from harm.
- For the president and his administration as online and cyber challenges are addressed.
