Advisors unanimously approve.
Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine was the only approved COVID-19 vaccine that only technically required a single dose to be effective. After a number of additional studies and discoveries, the FDA’s advisory panel of doctors endorsed strongly recommending a booster shot for the J&J vaccine, saying that it would offer even stronger protection than one shot alone.
“I think this frankly was always a two-dose vaccine,” said FDA advisor Dr. Paul Offit of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. “It would be hard to recommend this as a single-dose vaccine at this point.” Dr. Archana Chatterjee of Rosalind Franklin University agreed with this assessment. “This is really – with the second dose – bringing it I think on par with those other vaccines in terms of effectiveness,” she said.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For FDA officials as they work in tandem with other agencies to stop the spread of the virus.
- For the CDC and scientific researchers as they conduct more research into these vaccines and this disease.
- That the president and his advisors seek God’s wisdom in their recommendations for public health.
