Today, President Joe Biden will welcome Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta to the White House. The meeting comes following the inaugural phone call between the two leaders in February.
According to White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, “The leaders will discuss the strong U.S.-Kenyan bilateral relationship and the need to bring transparency and accountability to domestic and international financial systems.” As Kenya holds this month’s position of the rotating presidency of the U.N. Security Council, both leaders are expected to discuss the ongoing violent conflict in the region between Ethiopia’s national army and the Tigray People’s Liberation Front
She added, “They will also discuss efforts to defend democracy and human rights, advance peace and security, accelerate economic growth, and tackle climate change.” The press secretary continued by saying that the two will discuss “President Biden’s commitment to the U.S. partnership with Africa based on principles of mutual respect and equality.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For God to direct the conversations between the two world leaders as they discuss ways to bring peace to the region.
- For the president to seek wisdom in how to further strengthen the U.S. relationship with Kenya.
- For God’s will to be accomplished through the partnership between the U.S. and Kenya.
