Transferred from Air Combat Command to Cyber Command.
For the past few years, the Air Force has been working to train their forces to protect their cyber networks rather than relying on outsourcing from private industries. In September, the Air Force announced that the next “mission defense team” has been trained and would be shortly redesignated as the 55th Cyber Squadron.
“One of the major hurdles that we had to overcome was shifting our mindset from a maintenance to an operational perspective,” said 2nd Lieutenant Jeffrey Cruse, Commander of 55th Communications Squadron Cyber Defense Flight. “No longer is our primary focus customer issues or general system maintenance, but instead we are thinking about ways to engage near-peer adversaries and defend our mission critical networks and infrastructure.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the U.S. Armed Force as they develop security strategies to keep pace with technological developments.
- For officials in the Air Force in their efforts to protect key communications in the organization.
- That the Department of Defense would continue to update their cyber defense networks.
