Bureau of Land Management will offer three parcels in New Mexico.
The Bureau of Land Management within the Department of the Interior will hold a virtual geothermal lease sale in November to support the president’s energy goals. Almost four thousand acres in New Mexico will be offered in three parcels through an online site.
The 10-year competitive leases are being offered after clearing the National Environmental Policy Act process. The lessees will be contracted to explore and develop geothermal resources. President Biden’s administration hopes 25 gigawatts of renewable energy will be generated on public lands by 2025.
