Some states use federal Rescue Plan funds to keep benefits going.
Without any objections from President Biden and his top economic advisers, the end of federal unemployment benefits occurred Monday. Some 7.5 million people received assistance during the pandemic by the additional federal benefits.
Some states have indicated they will use federal economic aid given to them as part of the American Rescue Plan to add to state unemployment benefits, but several will not. Many unemployed workers will continue to qualify for their standard state benefits.
