Pentagon will require all service members to be vaccinated.
The Food and Drug Administration announced on Monday that it had fully approved Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine. Previously, the drug was distributed to Americans under an emergency approval process which doesn’t require as many trials of the drug. The United States is the first country to grant full approval to this vaccine. The approval was based on a 360,000-page application full of inspections and surveys.
President Biden hailed the announcement, and called on unvaccinated Americans to trust the “gold standard” of FDA approval saying, “the moment you’ve been waiting for is here.” The Pentagon also announced that with the full approval of the FDA it would begin giving mandatory vaccines to all service members serving in the military.
