The new site could contribute to President Biden’s goal of 30 gigawatts of offshore energy.
On Tuesday, Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland traveled to California to visit the Port of Humboldt Bay. The bay is being retrofitted to be the new site of an offshore wind farm designed to bring power to the area. President Biden’s administration has set a goal of increasing the amount of offshore wind energy provided to the national grid by 30 gigawatts by 2030.
Secretary Haaland stated, “Offshore wind will play a key role in transitioning to an equitable clean energy future. With rapid technological advances, falling costs, and tremendous economic potential, offshore wind will be instrumental in the fight to combat climate change and create good-paying union jobs. Today’s visit offered a great opportunity to learn about the state’s leadership in investing in the offshore wind industry and the domestic supply chain, and the ongoing local collaboration and community partnership here in Humboldt County.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- That officials in the Department of the Interior would steward the national resources wisely.
- For Secretary Haaland to seek God’s guidance as she leads the department.
- That the president administration would implement its energy goals with discernment.
