Today, President Joe Biden will welcome to the White House several city mayors from around the nation. These will include Mayor Muriel Bowser of Washington, D.C., and Mayor Sam Liccardo of San Jose, California. The president is also planning to host Memphis police Chief C.J. Davis, Chicago police Chief David Brown, and Newark, New Jersey, police Lt. Anthony Lima.
The meetings will focus primarily on the uptick of violent crimes across the nation, with a specific emphasis on gun-related violence. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said that the president is looking “to discuss his administration’s comprehensive strategy to reduce gun crimes and other violent crimes.”
The president said in June, “It is long past time we close the loopholes that allow gun buyers to bypass background checks in this country.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the president to seek God’s wisdom as he looks to tackle the national increase of violent crimes.
- For God to be at work through every official who is meeting with the president today.
- For grace and encouragement for law enforcement personnel around the nation as they work tirelessly to keep the peace and protect American citizens.
