Perhaps, in an effort to be humble, some people fall into an inferiority complex. Being down on yourself may sound modest but often it causes a downward spiral in your thinking, ultimately doing battle with your faith. Moses dealt with feeling inadequate and God went to “Plan B,” using Aaron as a mouthpiece.
In Romans 12:3, Paul instructs not to think too highly of oneself. However, you should not think too lowly of yourself either. Many psychologists, teachers, and pastors promote positive affirmations to get a person’s thinking on track. Paul advocates this in Romans 12:2, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” Today’s verse is a good place to start.
The lyrics to Hillsong’s Who You Say I Am proclaim, “I am chosen, not forsaken. I am who You say I am. You are for me, not against me.” Meditate on scriptures that reveal who you are in Jesus. 1 Peter 2:9 says, “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” Remember that you are part of the body of Christ. Make time for fellowship and corporate worship. An element of your purpose as a Christian is to interact with other believers. Pray for your brothers and sisters in the Lord and pray for the nation to come more into agreement with God’s Word.
