National support of the measure reported to be at 54%.
On Tuesday, the Senate announced that it would be moving forward with a plan to consider extending statehood to Washington, D.C. The hearing will take place in the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee on June 22. A bill enacting statehood for the nation’s Capitol has the support of President Biden and has already passed in the House of Representatives.
Washington, D.C. Delegate to the House of Representatives Eleanor Holmes Norton made the announcement, and expressed the national support of the plan saying, “D.C. statehood now has 54 percent support nationwide, according to the most recent detailed poll, and I expect that support to grow even more after the Senate hearing, as it has after the House hearings.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For God to lead the Senate on the issue of statehood for Washington, D.C.
- That the president’s administration would seek God’s wisdom as domestic policies are developed.
- For Delegate Norton as she represents Washington, D.C. in the House.
