President’s relief package continues to be implemented.
Fifteen billion of President Biden’s $1.9 trillion pandemic relief package passed in March has been allocated toward the expansion of child care. Vice President Harris visited a child care center in Washington on Friday to highlight the rollout of grants that they hope will help several million households balance work and family care in an attainable way.
“We know that the pandemic did not invent these challenges, but it certainly accelerated these challenges,” the vice president said. “Childcare centers were closed. Parents have been out of work. Families’ budgets have been stretched.” She conveyed that child care assistance will be a key administration priority moving forward.
