Plan contributes to administration’s goal to generate 30 gigawatts of offshore power.
On Friday, the Department of the Interior announced that it would be selling portions of federally controlled coastline off the coast of New Jersey for the purposes of wind power generation. The new production is expected to generate roughly 7 gigawatts of power – enough to power 2.6 million homes. The president’s administration has set a goal of generating an additional 30 gigawatts of power by offshore wind power generation by 2030.
Secretary Deb Haaland stated of the plan, “Climate change poses an existential threat — not just to our environment, but to our health, our communities, and our economic well-being. The Biden-Harris administration recognizes the urgency of this moment, and the development of renewable energy resources is an important piece of addressing this reality. Today’s announcement of new proposed lease stipulations puts a priority on creating and sustaining good-paying union jobs as we build a clean energy economy.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the Interior Department as it pursues clean energy solutions.
- That God would give Secretary Haaland wisdom as she leads the Interior Department.
- That the president’s administration would seek God’s direction in establishing policies.
