Encouraging congressional members of his party who are hesitant to support it.
This week, President Biden publicly called on Congress to pass a new Voting Rights Bill. During a speech in observance of the 100th anniversary of the Tulsa Massacre on Tuesday, the president stressed the importance of passing the updated protections to voting rights. He said, “We’re not giving up. I’m going to fight… with every tool at my disposal for its passage.”
The president’s administration has faced obstacles to accomplishing key goals due to an evenly divided Senate held in place by current filibuster rules. The president noted that two members of his party have voted with the opposition, making progress difficult. Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia is one of the two leaders who has publicly called the bill “too broad” and has not supported its passage.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For members of Congress as they consider the voting rights legislation.
- That God’s will would be accomplished as senators deliberate the bill.
- For the president to seek God’s guidance as he makes domestic policy and implements his agenda.
