He will attempt to broker peace deal between Israel and Palestine.
The White House announced on Monday that Secretary of State Antony Blinken departed for the Middle East. He will go to Israel first and plans to visit the West Bank, then on to Jordan and Egypt in an attempt to broker a peace deal between Palestine and Israel. According to President Biden, a major goal of the trip is to ensure, “the coordinated international effort to ensure immediate assistance reaches Gaza.”
Secretary Blinken’s agenda does not include meetings with members from the militant group Hamas, which currently controls Gaza. The United States designates the group as a “foreign terrorist organization.” As a result, Secretary Binken is expected to utilize mediators from Egypt and Jordan in order to move toward a peaceful conclusion to the worst violence in the region in years.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- That God would protect Secretary Binken as he travels.
- For the secretary of state to seek God’s wisdom as he promotes a peaceful conclusion to the fighting in the Middle East.
- For the president’s administration to build strong relationships with nations in the Middle East.
