Treasure

Call to me and I will answer you and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.  – Jeremiah 33:3

Are you a treasure hunter—your pulse quickening at the thought of unearthing riches from a secret hiding place? It is reported five people died looking for treasure when a New Mexico rancher buried a 2-million-dollar cache, leaving only a cryptic poem to reveal its location. Sometimes it seems God is like that rancher. You have important decisions to make, yet you must decipher poems and stories for clues to His answers. Why does He not just tell you what to do?

Knowing God’s will in your life is simpler than you may expect. It is just for you to be more and more like His Son, Jesus. The problem arises when one seeks the benefits of God while running away from God Himself!

When sin entered the world, humans hid, and today it is still humankind’s nature to be a fugitive from God’s presence. He sent Jesus into the world to “seek and save the lost” (Luke 19:10) and while He may not tell you specifically what to do, by knowing His Son He will show you how to think rightly, and how to make decisions honoring Him. “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect” (Romans 12:2).

Discover the greatest treasure of all living right in your heart as you welcome the Holy Spirit’s direction daily. Pray for those governing the United States to find their hope and direction in seeking the love of God through Jesus Christ His Son.

26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. 27 And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. 28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. 29 For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30 And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.
