About 59% of American adults have had at least one shot.
Fully vaccinated Americans can stop wearing masks, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Thursday. This is the most significant shift in federal guidance since the inception of the coronavirus pandemic.
“Anyone who is fully vaccinated can participate in indoor or outdoor activities, large or small, without wearing a mask or physical distancing,” CDC Director Rochelle Walensky said. “If you are fully vaccinated, you can start doing the things that you had stopped doing because of the pandemic. We have all longed for this moment when we can get back to some sense of normalcy.”
Her announcement was reiterated by a statement President Biden made in the Rose Garden who also relayed information on vaccinations. About 59% of American adults have received at least one inoculation. New daily COVID-19 cases are down and have been on the decline for several weeks.
Masks are still recommended on airplanes, buses, and other closed-in spaces, the CDC said.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- With gratitude to God for the pandemic nearing its end.
- For the CDC to follow science and data and not be influenced by partisan opinions or pressure.
- For Director Walensky as she oversees guidelines that continue to evolve in the waning pandemic.
