Netanyahu gives 24-hour notice in speech to Knesset.
The rocket attacks by Hamas against Israeli locations including Jerusalem and Tel Aviv have continued, and Israeli airstrikes have responded. Israeli officials are holding Iran responsible for the conflagration and issued a warning should the attacks continue.
Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz said, “Israel is not preparing for a ceasefire… There is currently no end date for the [defensive] operation. Only when we achieve complete quiet can we talk about calm.”
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke before the Knesset today, directing a message toward Hamas, saying their attacks had unified the people of Israel. “Whatever disputes we Jews may have with each other, we now know that we have one common goal: we will defeat you.” He continued, ”But we are offering you now one last chance. Within 24 hours, all rocket fire—and I mean all rocket fire—will cease. Completely. Forever.”
The Israeli prime minister concluded, “We will do whatever we have to in order to protect our population.”
U.S. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said on Wednesday, “The state of Israel has every right of self-defense. Its national security leaders have continued to display restraint.” He also stated Israel needs to know “their friends and allies here in the US stand with them as they seek to restore deterrence. That we support their right to peace and security. And that we will not relax our efforts to hold terrorists and terrorists’ supporters to account.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Prime Minister Netanyahu, Defense Minister Gantz, and other leaders of Israel as they take a stand to protect their people.
- For wisdom for the president and Congress as they respond to the attacks on Israel by Hamas.
- For God’s hand of protection upon the nation of Israel and its people.
