Vessel in Arabian Sea believed to be headed for Yemen.
On Sunday, the U.S. Navy reported the seizure of an arms shipment that was likely bound for Yemen. U.S. officials believe the thousands of assault weapons, machine guns, and sniper rifles had been sent from Iran support of Houthi rebels in violation of a UN arms embargo.
“USS Monterey and its embarked U.S. Coast Guard Advanced Interdiction Team (AIT) discovered the illicit cargo during a routine flag verification boarding conducted in international water in accordance with customary international law,” the U.S. Navy 5th Fleet stated. “Cache of weapons included advanced Russian-made anti-tank guided missiles & Chinese Type 56 assault rifles.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- That leaders in the U.S. Navy would have discernment as International Maritime Laws are followed.
- For Pentagon officials as they advise the president and his administration.
- For peace in the Middle East and protection for U.S. military personnel.
