Thus says the Lord of hosts, Render true judgments, show kindness and mercy to one another. – Zechariah 7:9
Be Kind
Television talk show host Zerlina Maxwell recently critiqued some Christians for not being “kinder.” She said, “While I am a progressive feminist, I have often debated folks who are citing the Bible and shouting about Sodom and Gomorrah, that’s something they always say. And I would always push back and say, ‘Listen, if Jesus is so great, why aren’t you nicer? Why aren’t you kinder? Why aren’t you more fair and kind to your neighbor and to your fellow human beings?’” Whether you agree with the criticisms or not, they provide an opportunity to evaluate your behavior to determine if any truth in those words. Tennessee pastor Greg Nance said, “When God’s people fail to practice kindness, they fail to be God’s people. Unkindness is as un-Christlike as any doctrinal error. Love is kind.” If you need help with kindness, ask the Lord for help. Rely on the Holy Spirit, whose fruit includes kindness.
