$8.25 billion in loans to be distributed by the Department of Energy.
President Biden’s administration announced a batch of new actions on Tuesday to address the nation’s aging power grid. Among the actions is a large lending program set up by the Department of Energy to support various projects including electricity transmission projects, and “innovative” projects. The Energy Department will work with the Department of Transportation to utilize highway rights of way to build out more infrastructure.
Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm said of the program, “this is a down payment on our efforts to modernize our transmission nationwide—but we need the American Jobs Plan to complete them. These investments will make our power system more resilient against threats and more reliable as we increase our clean energy capacity, creating thousands of jobs in the process.“
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- That God would give the president’s administration wisdom on how best to address the power needs of the country.
- For the Lord to guide Secretary Granholm on how best to distribute funding.
- That the Energy Department would be effective in supporting the nation’s power grid.
