Pause for evaluation lasted 11 days.
The single-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine, approved by the FDA for emergency use in the U.S. months ago, was paused after tests revealed that the vaccine could potentially cause blood clots in certain individuals. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention took 11 days to consider whether the risk outweighed the benefit of the vaccine.
After evaluations were made, the CDC panel voted 10-4 to put the J&J vaccine back into circulation. Panel chairman Dr. Jose Romero said in an interview after the vote, “The difference was how you convey the risk … It does not absolve us from making sure that people who receive this vaccine, if they are in the risk group, that we inform them of that.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the CDC as pandemic treatments and therapies are evaluated.
- That the FDA would have wisdom in their research and authorizations.
- That God’s will be accomplished as the president’s administration continues to address the waning pandemic.
