Drugs were seized from boat near Columbia.
The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Tampa offloaded over 5,500 pounds of cocaine in Miami this past week. The drugs were seized from a boat first spotted by a maritime patrol flight near the coast of Punta Gallinas, Colombia. The estimated value of the 87 bales interdicted comes to more than $94 million. Three suspects were taken into custody.
“This event is the perfect example of numerous key partners unifying our efforts to counter transnational criminal organizations who look to exploit the maritime environment,” stated Lt. Commander Jason Neiman, Seventh District public affairs officer. “By strengthening partnerships, we counter threats together.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- With gratitude for the protection offered by the various federal agencies against drug smuggling.
- For the members of the Coast Guard as they prevent various trafficking operations.
- For the Department of Homeland Security to uncover the criminal organizations that push illicit substances.
