The two-day virtual Leader Summit on Climate begins this morning. President Joe Biden will participate in today’s two sessions along with 40 other world leaders. The president is expected to commit to the goal of reducing U.S. greenhouse gas emissions by at least 50% by the year 2030. He hopes that this encourages other countries to commit to ambitious reduction targets.
This afternoon Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry and National Climate Advisor Gina McCarthy will join White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki for the daily press briefing.
Advisor McCarthy has stated, “The U.S. is looking at this as a tremendous opportunity to shift to clean energy. And we would hope that China and our other countries would look at it similarly.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For God’s purpose to be accomplished as the world leaders discuss climate during the virtual summit.
- For discernment for the president and his administration as climate and energy policies are implemented.
- For Envoy Kerry and Advisor McCarthy to gather accurate and beneficial information as they offer their recommendations regarding climate.
