Response over recent build-up of military.
The Pentagon announced on Sunday that it has begun preparations to address the growing threat of Russian military build-up in Eastern Europe. Over the last two weeks, Russia has been increasing military equipment on Ukraine’s eastern border. A cease-fire between Russian-backed separatists and the Ukrainian military also recently broke down in skirmishes that resulted in the deaths of twenty Ukrainian soldiers.
Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby acknowledged the Pentagon’s preparation for Russian actions saying, “I think we’ve been very clear about the threats that we see from Russia across domains. … We’re taking them very, very seriously.” Members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the president have recently been in contact with Ukrainian leadership to reassert the nation’s pledge to protect its allies.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the president’s administration to seek God’s wisdom in responding to Russia.
- That the Lord would give the Defense Department discernment on how best to support U.S. allies.
- That the Lord would be with Pentagon Press Secretary Kirby as he informs the American public on matters of national defense.
